Forgot to tell you that you might want to bring your 7/8 weight along with you. If you get a good size steelhead and it decides to head back to sea, you might want a bit more grunt in your rod. Winter fish you're going after is also generally bigger as compared to summer steelhead. Also, I always have a sink tip type III & V on steelhead & salmon trips. In BC, a sink tip is the most commonly used line as it gets the fly down fast and allows you to mend quite easily to control the drift. If you are not familiar with steelhead flies, bring plenty of Clousers with you and i'm quite sure they'll work. Steelhead are bottom hugging fish so going deep is the key to success. Don't worry if you lose flies... that's steelheading.
