Oh wow bass season...are they wild? Do you mean big mouth bass?

yes they are wild. season of migration passing hk water. sea bass.  Not sure of its eng name.. spotted bass maybe?

where have you been fishing? have you fished with eric? he was able to find some fish at dong chung..

I've tried Kennedy Town and Tiu Keng Leng. Nope, havnt even met Eric before let alone fish with him. There's a high possibility of me heading over to Tung Chung in the weekend... and if its good, even during the Christmas hols...

May I ask how you cast in the two spots mentioned? i guess back casting space is quite limited on those places.

another suggestion would be to hire a boat to look for bass. you can also browse thru other sectioins of this site for some ideas...

I was soaking bait over at Kennedy Town just to get an idea of how deep the water is as well as trying to find out where the fish are hanging around. As for Tiu Keng Leng, I only casted for about 30mins at the rocks near the waste water facility. I was almost certain that there are cods in the submerged rocks, but apparantly no one's home. I usually pack a 5 pc spin rod in my bag for those times when there's insufficient room for a backcast.

I'd probably stick to land based fishing for the time being until I get a better idea of how the tides here affect fish feeding behaviour as well finding places with higher catch rates. Everyone around the forum seems pretty tight lipped about where they catch their fish.

we just dun wanna over fishing as the resource is somehow more limited compare to other places in the tropic.

as for the easy access places, i would still say tung chung under the bridge or near the new ferry terminal. Ususal catch will be bream, bass, tapron,  red snapper, and mullet.

how long are you going to stay in hk?
