I am not so sure , it's long long time ago,  If the rod was designed by Steve Rajeff , who is multi-time World Fly Casting Champion , he takes a 7line , and put 8on.
The best length is 8ft 6in, giving a shorter casting arc and more power.

Oops, I may be having a wrong concept that a longer rod will have better power.

So did you see that pull the line and push the rod harder + timing right, will help you to casting long distance, but he 's using the tip Action rod to do the job. I think you need to be carefully of  if you are not confiden  to use the tip action , don't even try it , it can case a lot of  problem for casting tech ( mess the leader or hook yourself) , mid-Tip action rod are easy to control the open loop without any touch to the line, also can deliver a long distance's well.

I rather using a double handed spey rod than to

cast it with a single handed rod if I were to fish

in such a diatance for a whole day.

Man, Do you know what type of line did he use??, Shooting line . When you fishing for trout , you will only can use trout rod , salmon fishing can be use both .

Snooker 兄, 好奇怪你有以上解釋...............在今時今日嘅飛蠅世界 a Fly Rod is a Fly Rod, 並無指定飛蠅竿只可以釣鳟魚或三文魚.....何解會出現一支 Trout Rod 呢?

針對大小不同魚種, 可選擇不同重量飛蠅竿及線........亦不論咸水或淡水.........

Spey Rod 亦非指定只可釣三文魚呀.............

只希望網上朋友不要因你的講解被誤導。

Uncle ,  你講得對, 一時忘記了,我在英國釣魚,  只因為在英或有D 歐州國家到釣trout fishing, 會在全国有很多地方的水塘或河川, 是會講明這釣點是釣 Fresh water trout or sea salmon/ sea trout.. 而發給不同的魚牌比塘主同釣友, 如要在水塘或河川上中游,釣Fresh water trout 的話, 我們只可以用一支Trout rod  (8-11'') 在手, 而Uncle 講的 Fly Rod is Fly Rod, 我會覺得＋分對, 但要看看塘主/政府比不比, 有很多比賽/塘是不會給我哋這樣玩, 怕用了很大的地方而做成他人危險,而當中也有很多比賽釣魚人在比賽時都只可以用同長度大約的魚竿, 如有比賽人仕像Uncle咁話就好,   這不是Uncle 你話想點就點,雖話針對大小不同魚種用不同重量竿,這是可以, 但長度不可多個11'/12',for fresh water trout, 打後的大號數重量魚竿都會很長( 13'6" -16')  D/Hand, over weight 不可作同場比賽/同場一起用,同時如果大家都在一樣環境裏比賽, 他們只會帶多支spare 竿和不同魚線. 我釣了幾年魚都無見個, 一支Trout rod 是政府叫每個人在釣魚時, 只可以手上拿起一支竿來釣魚, 就是咁樣, 但如你喜歡的話,你可以帶全部由2-9#竿去到魚場釣魚都得.

但如果在只定的地方釣sea trout/ salmon, 那你可以兩樣都用.

哈哈........Snooker 兄, 你又再一次誤會了...........

我之所以提出有關 Trout Rod 問题, 是根據你在前帖所講情況, 並非有關於你現在所講的比賽規則, 英國及歐洲釣場的规限。

好相信你能明白, 我們現在只談飛蠅閒釣, 離比賽還有一條很長的路啊!
