Size of fly hook

Hi Buddies, I'm looking flies on-line coz I lost 5 flies already. I wish to ask the hook size.
Is that the # smaller means the hook is bigger? I search over e-bay with different offers of
#16 size. Is it the ordinary size for trout or suitable the usage in HK fresh water? Thanks!

E.g # 8-24  = Big -- small...

#16 = small
#18 =small+
# 20 =V. small
# 22 = V. small+

i use size 14-20 for minnow
6-10 for tapron, tilapia, grunter

You can find flies in Central, variety is not big though. The higher the number, the smaller the hook size. I use normally size #10 - #14 for bass.

The tackle shop in Cheung Chau also stocks flies.

Thanks for your reference.

I purchased on e-bay 36 flies with 8 sterling pounds. It seems the price is reasonable.
