Sorry flyfisher, I can't provide any more details as the river we fished is actually protected and the lenoks are rated 2nd class protected species by the Chinese government. A local invited me over to test out the river. Let me try to work more on the local contacts and see how far we can open up the river to the public.
This species of lenoks can only be found in this region, its different species to the Korean ones and Mongolia and Russia. I have been to Korea 3 times for 3 years to fish for Lenoks and Cherry salmon. They are not that big as the ones I found here in China. Unless you know a Korean friend and he knows where the secret spots are.
Over there 000wt is good enough.
For fishing in Mongolia there is a website call Flyfish mongolia, a search will lead you to the website. It is cater to US and UK to fish for taimen.
Currently I'm doing some research into places like NW China and Inner mongolia on where to fish for taimen, lenoks, grayling and pike. Let you guys know in time to come.
cheers
